It may take a while to find what I want, but when I do, it will be worth the investment of my time.I have average ankles and muscular calves, but as Angie mentions, the fit of the ankle scales up along with size, and I wear an 11. I see other people where I live do this too. With the two combined, most booties look *off* to my eye.I have three pairs of boots (two of which lace up and one moto style) and have yet to try them with the new shorter style pants.
The flower pot effect doesn’t bother me. I *do* have some booties that might work. I often feel that a style of bootie that is meant to have a wide gap around the ankle does not have much of a gap on my leg. That being said, unlike trying to achieve perfect pant length and flattering shirt hem lengths for pants v. skirts, I’ve never focused on it. It seems hard to get a snug ankle with certain styles, for example, a cowboy style boot/bootie or a Hunter style rain boot. The visuals below are good examples of boot openings that look overly wide on the ankles, at least to my eye.

And a high volume foot to go with it all. I am a bit tolerant of wider openings in boots, depending on the cut of the opening. ©1999 - 2020 Shoebuy.com, Inc. All Rights Reserved.Quick View is not available.

Probably one of the reasons I haven’t gotten as into the booties+cropped pants trend, even though I like the look, booties are hard to shop for.I am very intolerant of the flower pot effect on myself and so much so that I have a very hard time finding booties. I wasn’t sure why they appealed to me over others. This gives me more pairing options in my current wardrobe and probably more choices when I start bootie shopping next month; since I am planning to strongly focus on wearing cropped straights/flares and culottes this upcoming fall/winter season.I too have narrow ankles and boot gap is for sure a poison eye for me. Until now I didn’t know what it was that bothered me about the look.

Image: City Chic. Best of luck.Diana, that's interesting. Usually with a dress or pencil skirt. I don’t wear angles boots, only have one pair and rarely wear, because I feel sloppy in boots that don’t fit well at the ankle. Interesting.

Between the flower pot look and the sense that it might rain into too-wide boots, I have no tolerance for a wide opening.
